SNSD receives the Prime Minister’s Awards

SNSD received the Prime Minister’s Awards at the 2011 Korean Culture Art Awards held at the Olympic Hall in the Olympic Park at 7:00 p.m. on Nov. 21.
Members of SNSD gave their feelings about receiving the award: “It’s a very pleasure and honor for us to be award such an honorable prize. First of all, we want to express our deep gratitude to Lee Su Man, the president of our agency. We’ve long been a real support for our activities.”
They added, “As K-POP is largely spreading across the world, the world is, we clearly feel, more focusing on us and our music. In this respect, this prize must be given to all the Korean singers. SNSD is firmly determined to have more responsibility to improve the recognition of Korea and Korean music throughout the world.”
Since its debut in 2007, SNSD has rapidly grown as a representative girl group of Korea, releasing a series of hit songs such as “Gee,” “Genie” and “Hoot.”
After four years, SNSD became a leading player of Korean Wave and a global big star who enjoys high popularity even in Europe and South America, not to mention Asia.
The Korean Culture Art Awards was newly created to encourage Korean popular culture artists and improve their standing in the domestic and overseas stages.
